Grand Rapids Community College culinary students will be selling their baked goods Thursday, June 20.

This event gives students the opportunity to showcase what they have learned throughout their course. A variety of treats, such as cookies, brownies and cakes will be sold at the pop up, with prices ranging from $1 to $6.

Werner Absenger, the Program Director of Secchia Institute Culinary Education at GRCC, expressed why they hold events like this for the culinary department.

“We intentionally put (the pop-up bakeshop) at the end of the program, so students have a lot of time to practice with everything that was in the curriculum,” Absenger said.

Along with that, he says he’s extremely thankful for the people who come to support the students at these kinds of events.

“Those public events where we sell baked goods are a huge part of the curriculum,” Absenger said. “We probably couldn’t do it as well as we can without the GRCC community.”

This event will be held at the Wisner-Bottrall Applied Technology Center on the main GRCC campus. It begins at 11 a.m. and ends at 12:30 p.m.

Cash and credit/debit cards will be accepted as a form of payment. Students can use their RaiderCards as well.
