The Ford Fieldhouse here on campus is a great place for students who love to workout, have some open gym time for pickup games with friends, watch our Raider basketball and volleyball teams and a great place to hangout. All students and staff can access the fieldhouse as long as they are registered in one credit at Grand Rapids Community College.
The Ford Fieldhouse is currently going through some new renovations.
The pool facility is being turned into a brand new space for students. They are adding a Fitness Center which will include cardio machines, selectorized weight machines, free weight space and a functional training area. The pool is being transformed into additional storage, along with a brand new indoor turf field. New locker rooms will be added, as well as a new space for students to hang out or study.
Whitney Marsh, Director of the Ford Fieldhouse, talked about what she does and everything that goes on in the fieldhouse.
Marsh called it a “multi-use facility,”where you can find many different things going on.” Some classes take place in the fieldhouse like exercise science classes and tactical training for criminal justice. Indoor sports all play and practice in the facility. The facility is also equipped with indoor batting cages for when the weather doesn’t allow for softball and baseball practice.
The Ford Fieldhouse is open from 6 a.m. – 7 p.m. Monday- Thursday and 6 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday, and closed on Saturday and Sunday. Students and staff are welcome to workout, study and train during all open hours.
There is no prior paperwork or anything you need to do before going, all you need is your RaiderCard. A nice thing about the fieldhouse that most people don’t know is that GRCC offers a membership for student spouses to come in and use the facility at a low rate.
