As we await the 2024 presidential election results, nerves are high and tension is rising. As someone with anxiety, this waiting period only increases my nerves. One way that helps me ease my anxiety is using fidget toys in times of stress.
Throughout election day I could be seen around The Collegiate office with fidget toys. I cycled through the three I brought with me that day to help ease my mind, and for me, fidget toys do a great job. I have an abundance, but my favorite to use, especially on election night, are my two Needoh brand stress toys.
One, called the “Needoh Nice Cube” is a cube shaped fidget full of a thick glue-like substance. Another titled the “Needoh GumDrop” is the same except it has a rougher texture and looks like a gumdrop. The consistency of these products allows for the user to squeeze and stretch the object.
Needoh has a variety of different stress toys, and can be found online on Amazon or the Needoh website. However, I got those two at “The Toy Shelf” at Rivertown mall in Grandville and they also are sold in stores like Walmart and Target.
Additionally, infinity cubes are also nice when trying to ease anxiety. This is a plastic cube made up of 8 smaller cubes, they are interlocked in a way that allows you to fold them onto one another. This is a good fidget to use when alone as it makes a bit of noise, so if you’re watching the election results with family or roommates, you might want to save this one for another time.

The last product I recommend is a Flexi also known as a “fidget worm.” This stress toy is made up of interlocking plates that collapse onto one another when you move it. This fidget also looks almost like an optical illusion when using, and makes for a good anxiety reducer.
