As planning continues for renovations to the Grand Rapids Community College Learning and Resource Center, the Center for Student Life & Leadership hosted a feedback session where all GRCC students were able to provide their input on potential floor plans.
At Wednesday’s event, students and staff got the chance to review potential renovation ideas for the LRC, including spaces for studying, meetings, eating, socializing and so much more. These renovations are expected to be finished in the spring of 2026 and estimated to cost around $33.6 million.
Students and staff were able to leave feedback via sticky notes on the presented boards that had each potential floor plan shown. Responses prompted with questions including, “how could you see yourself using this space?” and “what kind of activities and events could this new space support?”
The comments that were left by students were such things as, “access for students projects.” Attendees also asked questions about what would be added for cafes, suggesting places such as “Collab with Quiet Cafe? Or Starbucks” and “grab N go at Raider Cafe” for places where students can grab a quick bite.
Those unable to attend the event will be able to provide feedback via the discussion boards and floor plans that will be put on the 5th floor of the Raleigh J. Finkelstien building on the main campus.
