Grand Rapids Community College President Charles Lepper has been announced as a finalist in the Madison Area Technical College presidential search. MATC is a two-year college located in Madison, Wisconsin.

Lepper, who has been president of GRCC since 2023, is one of four finalists. The other finalists are Jennifer Berne, Provost of Oakland Community College, Tim Casper, who was a finalist for president at GRCC along with Lepper in 2022 and now serving as interim president of Madison College and Dawn Crim, Vice Chancellor for Advancement, Community Engagement and Inclusivity at University of Wisconsin-Green Bay.

News that Lepper may be leaving GRCC was announced by the Board of Trustees in an email to campus faculty and staff on Thursday night.

“We want to reassure our campus community that we are continuing to diligently plan for the future,” the email stated. “This recent announcement does not alter our commitment to GRCC, and we are confident that our students, faculty, staff and trustees will continue to work together to advance the College’s mission.”

Chairperson of the board Brandy Lovelady Mitchell, Trustee Salvador Lopez and GRCC Faculty Association President Mike Light, could not be reached for comment.

This announcement comes just over two years after Lepper began his presidency at GRCC.
