The Grand Rapids Community College Communications Department sent out emails on Friday, May 23 and Wednesday, May 28, alerting staff that the upper and lower levels of the College Park Plaza parking ramp will be closed for the entirety of the summer.
Starting Tuesday, May 27, students and staff were advised to use other alternatives to parking due to construction projects at the college.
Parking ramp A- level 6 will also be impacted by the construction.
“These projects include parking structure repairs and the CPP Window Replacements initiative, with the window work set to begin on Monday, June 9,” the communications department wrote. “The Level 6 entrance/exit gates will be closed for the entirety of the project. Barricades will be stationed just South of the Level 5 Ransom Ave exit gates as well as the Level 5/6 transition to restrict Level 6 access. All Students must enter Ramp A via Fountain St. Employee access will not be impacted.”
The closure of the parking ramp and construction projects were said to continue through Friday, August 22. The email also included other parking spaces that would be impacted by summer construction and said those changes would also be communicated prior to the closure.
