GRCC students who may need extra support or are merely interested in more resource opportunities can look forward to the Jumpstart to Success event hosted by Retention Services. The event will take place this Wednesday, Jan. 14, on the third floor of the Student Success Center from 12 to 3 p.m. Students who attend will be supplied with an array of school materials to choose from including notebooks, binders, pencils, etc. Free pizza will be provided as well.
In addition to free school supplies and food, students can enjoy a break to color and mingle with others. An assortment of other departments will be available to offer any information or answer any questions students may have. IT will even be able to assist with simple tech issues. Other departments include Tutoring, Technology Learning Center, Center for Career and Professional Readiness, Student Employment Services, CARES Network/Hardship, Experiential Learning/Honors Program, Occupational Support Program, and TRIO SSS.
“Retention Services has the goal to connect students with the necessary support early within the semester to assist with their academic journey,” Sondra Davis, a Support Professional in Retention Services, shared via email. Among others, this support includes the CARES network which includes student resources on campus.
Davis shared that it is favorable for students to get connected with resources as soon as possible since Retention Services align closely with the CARES network which they are hoping to promote as well as Navigate features that can benefit and assist students.
This event was also offered in the Fall semester and the goal is to keep providing needed school materials during the first weeks of the Fall and Winter semesters. More information about Retention Services events can be found on Raider Connect.
