On Friday, March 6, Grand Rapids Community College traveled to Flint to face off against Bay College in the National Junior College Athletic Association Great Lakes District C Championship. In a battle to advance to the championship game, GRCC fell to Bay College with a close score of 55-57.

Head Coach David Glazier knew the team was prepared as much as they could have been when going up against Bay.

“Today there was a tremendous feeling of calm because our kids were prepared and played their hearts out,” wrote Glazier, in an email to the Collegiate.

Both teams battled to maintain the lead, ending the first period in a tie. The Raiders maintained the lead throughout the rest of the first half, leading the game into halftime with a score of 32-24.

With the pressure of playing this close of a game, Glazier highlighted his advice to the team.

“I try to give them a steady stream of calm advice, typically focused on what our pregame goals and keys are,” stated Glazier. “We talk through whether we are meeting those goals, whether we are or we aren’t, and how we can continue or change course.”

The game ended in a breathtaking last-second foul against GRCC, allowing Bay College a chance to take the lead at the free-throw line. They made both shots, bringing the score to 57-55, with only .01 seconds left on the clock, GRCC attempted one final play.

Sophomore Guard Tianna Daye passed the ball to Sophomore Forward Averi Peot. Having an open shot, Peot took it, yet the shot fell short just as the buzzer rang. It was a heartbreaking moment, yet in the end, the Raiders gave everything they had until the very last minute.

“I am just so proud of our young women. They saw a great deal of success, they had to fight through some adversity, but most importantly, they grew together as a team,” Glazier wrote.

Freshman Guard Allison Rockburn led the team scoring 10 points.. Sophomore’s Sophia Wozniak and Harmonie Belton tied with a total of seven rebounds. Belton also chipped in a total of five assists. Defensively, the team forced a total of 17 steals and a total of nine blocks.

When asked about his post-season thoughts Glazier responded, “I don’t think I’ve had enough time here at the end to have a complete feeling about the year, but I know that winning 20 games is a heck of an accomplishment.”

The Raiders ended the 2025-2026 season with an overall record of 20-10
