Erin Van Egmond has been named the executive director of the Grand Rapids Community College Foundation. Van Egmond plans to focus on making education more accessible and helping students overcome financial obstacles at GRCC.
Van Egmond has served as the assistant director of the GRCC Foundation since 2015 and has worked at GRCC since 1998. She also served as the foundation’s donor relations
coordinator and director of alumni relations. She started her career as a student worker in the financial department and joined the foundation team in 2005.
“I’m thrilled to be able to help students… and build on the great foundation that we already started,” Van Egmond said.
The foundation was established in 1964 and has since helped manage and secure scholarships to promote student and community learning. The GRCC Foundation awarded $1.3 million in scholarships to around 1,642 students during the 2021-2022 fiscal year.
The foundation also works with donors on capital campaigns and raising funds to renovate or build facilities to expand opportunities for students. Recent projects include renovations of Raleigh J. Finkelstein Hall, the Wisner-Bottrall Applied Technology Center, and the Custer Alumni House, as well as the construction of the Secchia Piazza.
