GRCC Women’s soccer team takes 2-1 victory

Grand Rapids Community College women’s soccer team started their winning streak over with a 2-1 win against Muskegon Community College on Friday, Oct. 4, putting their season record to 4-6-1.

The Raiders put their all into getting the victory which showed successfully against the Jayhawks. This game is the second time in GRCC women’s soccer history that the team has won against Muskegon. During the 90-minute soccer game the team only conceded one goal and scored two, putting the women’s team back on track. GRCC women’s head coach Jason Hill made a few comments about the game and what they look forward to for the rest of the season.

“We were able to play our game, as a team. We were pleased with our execution of the game plane and our work rate,” Hill stated.. “We are ready to play tomorrow, we want a high work rate, positive communication and to  be able to control the game. SC4 is very tough, so we will need to be focused for the challenge.” 

A total of two goals were scored making one of them a solo goal from sophomore forward Claira Deyoung at the 49th minute just before halftime, adding a goal to her previous three of the season. Another goal in the 56th minute was assisted by freshman midfielder Emily Krampitz and scored by sophomore forward Ava Simonson.
