Grand Rapids Community College offers a weekly financial aid voucher of $11, which is applied directly to a student’s RaiderCard toward select campus food vendors. The Michigan Hunger-Free Campus program has been active at GRCC since the beginning of the 2025 winter semester.

“In October, GRCC, along with four other schools, received a grant from State Rep. Carol Glanville (D-Walker) to eliminate/minimize hunger on campuses across these four public institutions,” Tyler Anderson, GRCC’s Service and Technology Coordinator, stated in an email to The Collegiate. “GRCC received $125,000, which half ($62,500) went to our GRCC food pantry for orders with Feeding America and the other half is going to students who apply for this through their online center.”
How to apply
This financial service must be applied for by submitting a questionless form by 11:59 p.m. every Sunday you wish to receive aid.
“Students will find the form for this in their Online Center > Student Resources > Under the student life drop-down> Meal Voucher,” Anderson stated.
An email confirmation will be sent after the form has been completed. Any of the $11 funds not used by the student in the one-week duration will be returned to the pot, so accumulating aid is not possible.
Where can the voucher be redeemed?
“The locations that this can be used at is limited to campus dining which would include: Subway, Patatas, Quiet Cafe, Sneden Cafe and RaiderGrill. The funds can NOT be used at Foodology, Heritage (Restaurant), or vending around campus,” Anderson stated.
