People may feel as if they have to be on their phone all day, saying things like “I’m trying to limit my usage of my phone, but I will miss every funny video on TikTok or Instagram Reels,” but in reality, it’s this choice that leaves you missing out. I get it. I used to be like that.

I believe too much screen time can cause someone to procrastinate or even have some mental health issues. I feel like we all have to take accountability for our actions about how we’re not achieving all we could because we were too lazy to take action toward our goals. It feels like we wasted a lot of time on our screens that could have been spent outside or being present in our daily lives.

It’s time for everyone to touch grass. It seems like people are addicted to anything related to blue light instead of anything that involves outdoor activities. For instance, people who are addicted to touch screens like phones and video games are missing out on fun stuff you can do.

In the spring and summer, going outside really doesn’t hurt. You can call up your friends and have a great hangout session at a beach, basketball court, carnival, or ride scooters and bikes downtown. I get that everyone has a busy schedule, and there’s nothing wrong with checking your phone or playing a game once you get done with your must-do tasks for the day.

When I was a kid, I still knew how to balance going outside and going on my phone or playing my PlayStation. Nowadays, it’s a skill for people to know how to balance screen time and do something that involves the outdoors or productivity.

There are times when I go to play a game and I get matched up against people who never touched grass in their day of life. Old heads and these kids nowadays on NBA2k are playing like they are going to become the best in the world, or act like they have immense knowledge of basketball, but they have never touched a ball in their lives and don’t even know what in the world they’re talking about.

Now, phone addiction is not an addiction, It’s a skill issue that can be fixed by not staying on your phone all day. The best way I stay off my phone is by putting it on do not disturb or investing. Nowadays, social media is a big problem for humanity. Everything happens on social media, and everyone compares themselves to others or starts talking nonsense that causes drama, and people get ready to battle.

In conclusion, we must take accountability for phone and video game addiction by going outside and touching grass.
