GRCC women’s basketball victorious against rival Lake Michigan College winning 67-50

GRCC women’s basketball was victorious Monday night over Western Conference rival Lake Michigan College, winning  67-50. The Raiders controlled the game throughout, never trailing and having a lead as large as 24 points. GRCC was led by sophomore Averi Peot on both sides of the court.

Peot, with a career performance scoring 25 points for the Raiders, making 10 of 14 shots from the field, also was perfect from outside the arch making 2 three-point shots. Defensively, Peot produced 8 rebounds, assisted by her teammates, who also led the game in various categories. Sophomore Sophia Wozniak led the game in steals with 4, and Sophomore Emma Picarazzi led the game tallying 4 blocks, half the Raiders total of 8 blocks to the Redhawks 1. GRCC shot a season-best 46.6 percent from the field (27-for-58) with the win, the Raiders improved to 16-6 overall and 5-1 in conference play.

GRCC basketball continues Wednesday, February 4, as the Women’s team kicks off another Conference double header at home, hosting Kellogg Community College. Tip-off is set for 5:00 PM.
