Students and staff are invited to attend the Fall College Orchestra concert on Thursday, Oct. 15. The group will have performances at 7:30 p.m. and 9 p.m. at Grand Rapid Community College’s Albert P. Smith Music Center in the Linn Maxwell Recital Hall.
The College Orchestra is the second performance from the music department this fall, following the Faculty Recital in September.
The College Orchestra has been preparing for the performance all semester.
“They get their music first week, and then they start rehearsing as a group the second meeting,” said Donovan Rose, a support professional at the GRCC music departm. They typically have two meetings per week.
Rose stated that attendees can expect to see “a variety of classical repertoire that you would find performed by an orchestra.”
For those interested, the College Orchestra is open for anyone to join by enrolling in the College Orchestra course.
“Our instructors and faculty are happy to work wherever the students are at to get them to be able to perform within the orchestra or any of our ensembles,” Rose said.
Admission to the event is free for students who present their RaiderCards.
“This performance, as well as GRCC performances, just show up with your RaiderCard and you get in for free,” Rose said.
