Update: This article has been updated to show the food is prepared and served by Creative Dining.
Grand Rapids Community College students from around the world will be sharing their cultures tomorrow as part of the Global Experience Festival.
Dishes from Colombia, Saudi Arabia and Vietnam will be served by Creative Dining. Dishes like falafel and arepa will be available from 6 to 7:15 p.m. in the Ford Fieldhouse. Performances, including classical guitar and bellydancing, that feature students from GRCC and other surrounding colleges will follow, and the event ends with the chance to dance or take a Zumba class.
“The Global Experience Festival is an excellent showcase of the diverse student population at Grand Rapids Community College,” stated Francisco Ramirez, advisor to the Hispanic Student Organization, said in a press release. “Our students organize this event, and they focus on attaining local talent for performances. I believe this to be an exemplary connection between our students, the institution and our community.”
Limited tickets will be available at the event, but tickets are available either in GRCC’s Student Life office or online here. The cost is $5, or free for children under the age of 3.
Actually, the food is prepared and served by Creative Dining during the festival. Our students are assisting the crowd and focusing on the performances.
