Grand Rapids Community College’s campus dining event filled the multipurpose room in the Student Community Center with a savory and sweet smell on Oct. 16.
The event was designed to showcase the different catering options available through GRCC. Along with the food itself, the occasion allowed GRCC’s catering staff to show everyone what they are capable of.
Dan Zehr the Director of Food Services at GRCC was there to answer everyone’s questions about the food.
“We are here to serve the college, and let everyone know what we can do,” Zehr said.
GRCC’s catering staff has six certified chefs. Five of them being from the culinary program.
Keaton Krupa, service manager at GRCC, said the idea for this even began two years ago, but plans for it did not happen until the spring.
“It’s nice to have an opportunity to show off our higher end event appetizers,” Krupa said.
In attendance were many faculty members and students. Brandon Sinclair, student at GRCC and the president of the Campus Activities Board was among them.
“I love this jalapeno dip,” Sinclair said, when asked about his favorite food from the event.
The turnout was over 30 faculty and students.
