Muskegon, Mi- The No. 6 ranked Grand Rapids Community College volleyball team beat conference rival Muskegon Community College 3-0 (25-23, 25-22, 25-22) on Tuesday.

Dictating the tempo and controlling the first contact of the ball, GRCC played a fast and physical game.

“I give our serve receive and serving a lot of credit ,” GRCC coach Chip Will said. “We had one of our best passing matches ever.”

GRCC’s serve receive was able to counter  the serving of MCC, who is known nationally for its hard serving.

“We live and die with our serve,” MCC’s coach Rick Rykse said, “We could get every serve in if we wanted to, but then they would  make perfect passes. With a big offensive team, you’re not going to stop them.”

GRCC (19-3, 10-0) plays Jackson College at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, then Ancilla College on Oct. 14, with both games being played at Ford Fieldhouse.
