On a night honoring its sophomores, the No.11 ranked Grand Rapids Community College Volleyball team clinched its sixth conference title, along with a berth in this year’s regional tournament after beating Ancilla College 3-0 (25-9,25-15,25-16) on Tuesday.
Starting six sophomores, GRCC began the match with confidence and energy that continued to only grow stronger the rest of the match.
“That was the first time I have seen us in a long time really dominate all aspects of the ball,” GRCC Coach Chip Will said. “It was really great to see.”
With the win over Ancilla College, GRCC moves to 21-3 overall and 12-0 in the conference, and has set its sights on the upcoming regional and national tournaments.
“We all played together and executed well,” GRCC libero Amanda Glaza said. “We are now a step closer to our goal of qualifying for nationals.”
Amanda Glaza led GRCC with 23 digs, while Michelle Holland, added 20 assists and Rosalyn Wyse had seven kills.
GRCC finishes up its regular season schedule at Kellogg Community College at 6:30 P.M. Thursday before hosting Lake Michigan College at 6:30 P.M. Tuesday at the Ford Fieldhouse.
