The Grand Rapids Community College Student Alliance held its last meeting of the semester Thursday afternoon in the multi-purpose room on the second floor of the Student Community Center.

The group unanimously approved allocating $3,600 to the Hispanic Student Organization to aid in the cost of the organization’s planned February trip to a conference in Chicago.

The Alliance tabled until the first meeting of next year, a request from the Biodiversity Club for $3,500 to help fund a June camping trip to Isle Royale.

Director of Financial Aid Anna Isackson gave a general presentation on the issues of Financial Aid that included the first step of how to apply for financial aid, how to maintain your eligibility, financial aid limitations and how to repay your student loan.

In 2013-14 54.5 million dollars of financial aid was awarded to GRCC students with just over 27 million being that of student loans

The students in attendance also discussed the lack of microwaves around campus and where new ones should be located.
