The Grand Rapids Community College women’s basketball team started the second semester off in the right direction by defeating Ancilla College 88-66 on Wednesday at the Ford Field House for only its second win of the season.
Fans returning from the semester break noticed several personnel changes to the team that included the addition of new players and the absence of coach Tracy Little.
Replacing Little in mid-December was John Maciak, a former assistant coach for 15 years under Raiders men’s coach David Selmon.

“I am honored and humbled to be the girls coach,” said John Maciak.
There has been no comment on the coaching change from the GRCC Athletic Department.
With the new personnel in place, the Raiders played a dominant game on both offense and defense. They never trailed on the scoreboard and outrebounded Ancilla 59-42.
“It was a great effort by the girls,” Maciak said, “To come home and get a win like this was unbelievable.”
Sara Karamol had her best performance of the year with a double- double, leading the Raiders with 21 points and 15 rebounds.
Ancilla College’s La’Fabian Coleman led all scorers with 22 points.
GRCC will play at Jackson College at 1:00 p.m. Saturday.
