This week’s list of events includes a Pokémon musical, an outside winter event, an ethnic heritage festival and two celebrations.
Billy’s Lounge will host the Bob Marley Birthday Bash at 8 p.m. Saturday. This is a party to celebrate Marley’s musical message of peace and love, and takes place on his 71st birthday. Admission is $9 and the dance party is for ages 21 and up.
Founders Brewing Company‘s third annual Firkin Freezeout takes place from 11 a.m.-6 p.m. Saturday. This is a free all ages event. There will be more than 40 firkins, a live ice carving and barbecue themed menu items. The freezeout takes place outside, in the beer garden.
The Grand Rapids Symphony‘s performance of “Pokémon: Symphonic Evolutions” will take place at DeVos Performance Hall at 8 p.m. Friday. The performance is coupled with visuals from past Pokémon videogames. Ticket prices range from $32-$105 depending on seat choice and availability.
The Pyramid Scheme’s Bowie Night starts at 7:30 p.m. Friday. Doors open at 7 p.m.. Ages 21 and up are welcome, and admission is $10. This is a neo-glam dance party with music from David Bowie’s extensive catalog.
Grand Rapids Public Museum hosts the annual Ethnic Heritage Festival starting at 10 a.m. Saturday. This event is free with general admission, free with your RaiderCard. The festival features ethnic foods, beer tastings, a variety of organizations and performances in the Meijer Theater and Galleria on the second floor of the museum.
