The Grand Rapids Community College women’s basketball team fell short on Monday, Nov. 21, with a 44-41 loss against Calvin College.
GRCC started out the game well on both ends of the floor, along with playing good team basketball.
“We played three great quarters,” said Head Coach Dave Glazier. “We ran our offense and knocked down some shots. Our defense was good and we did good on the boards.”
In the fourth quarter, the Raiders good performance slowed down as they were outscored by eleven.
“The fourth quarter is where we kind of went away from what was working in the previous three quarters,” said Glazier. “We had a chance to hit the shot to send it to overtime, but it just didn’t go down.”
Freshman Forward Makayla Beld finished with 11 points on 3-6 shooting, eight rebounds and one steal.
Along with Freshman Forward Emily Pendred finishing with five points on 2-10 shooting, and 19 rebounds.
Moving forward, GRCC plans to keep working and focusing on what they need to do to be better.
“We are just going to keep working, and keep focusing on what we need to do.” We have to finish shots; when you hold teams to 44 points you have to win those games.”
The next game will be at 5:30 Tuesday, Nov. 22, at Hope College.
