The Grand Rapids Community College women’s basketball team struggled through a tough loss to rival Muskegon Community College 32-60, Friday night.

The Raiders struggled to take care of the ball against Muskegon CC’s tough full court press, finishing the game with 31 turnovers.

“I’m at a loss for why defensive fronts that shouldn’t frustrate us, do,” said Head Coach Dave Glazier. “That press wasn’t anything that we haven’t seen, or we can’t beat.”

After suffering a tough loss, GRCC knows they have plenty of things that they still have to improve on.

“We got things we have to fix,” Glazier said. “We have to refocus our energy on the little things.”

The coach isn’t the only person that had an overall message for the team following the loss.

“In practice we have to work harder,” said Freshman Guard Allazae Lloyd. “We have to get on each other, so that pressure on the court in practice is easier in the game.”

“We need to focus on working together,” Albert said. “Were struggling with communicating on defense and that is carrying over to our offense, so that’s what we need to work on.”

Freshman Guard Makayla Beld led the way for the Raiders with nine points, 11 rebounds and two blocks.

Lloyd finished with eight points, three blocks and one steal.

GRCC’s next game will at 5:30, Feb. 8, at Lansing Community College.
