GRCC hosts 100th commencement ceremony

The Grand Rapids Community College 100th commencement ceremony on April 28, 2017.

The 2017 Grand Rapids Community College graduation ceremony took place Friday in the GRCC Ford Fieldhouse with more than 430 students walking to receive degrees or certificates.

Associate Provost and Dean of Student Affairs Tina Hoxie was delighted to have students of all programs and paths complete an important chapter in their lives at graduation.

“Every program that GRCC offers is being represented tonight,” said Tina Hoxie. “It’s very exciting for each student to cross the finish line and receive their certificate from President Ender.”

President Ender was attending his final graduation as GRCC’s president and offered some words of wisdom to the graduates in the audience.

“The number one lesson taught to me by my parents: work is noble,” Ender said. “I don’t care what kind of work it is. Work is noble. And you need to learn to appreciate the process of work, as much as the outcome. I have never met a successful person in my life that was not a hard worker. And what I love about this characteristic … you can always choose to be the hardest worker in the room.”
