Today, Grand Rapids Community College Music Department will present the Instrumental Ensembles Concert featuring the Chamber Orchestra and the Guitar Ensemble at 7 p.m.
The concert will be held at the GRCC Albert P. Smith Music Center in the Linn Maxwell Keller Recital Hall located at 142 Ransom St. NE.
The Guitar Ensemble includes 12 musicians plus their director, Brian Morris. They will be performing four pieces including “Air” by Shingo Fujii, “El Gato Montes” by Manuel Penella, “Chasing Dragons” by Darin Au, and “Tyrandosaurus” by Jurg Kindle.
The College Orchestra is directed by Libor Ondras that consists of five groups of instrumentalists that include Violin 1, Violin 2, Viola, Cello and Bass. The group will be performing two songs the first is “Four Seasons” by Antonio Vivaldi that’s divided into each of the four seasons. The solo violinists are Emma Bieniewicz, Amy Weinstein, Jesse Nguyen, Libor Ondras, Marlae Sloothaak and Anastasia Gilmore. The final song for the College Orchestra is “Divertimento in D major K. 136” by W.A. Mozart divided into these parts “Allegro, Andante, and Presto.“
