The Grand Rapids Community College Women’s Volleyball team defeated Kalamazoo Valley Community College three sets to none on September 5th. They won their sets 25-19, 25-21, and 25-16.
Outside hitter Danielle Johnston had a particularly outstanding game leading the game with 10 kills and was second on the team with 11 digs.
When asked about her play she credited it to the people who helped her out.
“I’d like to give credit to my teammates and coaches. we’ve all been working hard since the beginning of August,” Johnston said.
With this win the Raiders are 8-3 overall and 3-0 in conference play. With their great play so far they have definitely become the team to beat.
Johnston said the team is managing this pressure well and staying focused on continued improvement. , “It’s been fun because we all are looking forward to the competition,” she said. “Our coaches are working with us on what we need to improve on to keep getting better.”
The Raiders next game will be at 6:30 p.m. on September 12 in Battle Creek when they face Kellogg Community College.
