Another year is coming to an end, which means music lovers are looking to their Spotify for this years personalized Spotify Wrapped.
Every year, music streaming service Spotify releases a personalized playlist, accompanied by a mini-presentation for every one of its users. It features the most listened to songs and artists for the year and compiles them together into a playlist.
The release of this event is looked forward to by many of its users as they anticipate seeing their listening habits of the year.
This year, Wrapped released on Dec. 4, satisfying many anxious users.
“It surprised me,” commented Grand Rapids Community College student Michael Price, 21, from Grand Rapids, “There were artists I thought I listened to more.”
Alongside personal playlists, Spotify releases a global list of top artists and songs of the year.
The top three streamed artists of the year are Post Malone, Billie Eilish, and Ariana Grande. The top streamed songs of the year include “Señorita” by Camila Cabello and Shawn Mendes and “Bad Guy” by Billie Eilish.
In addition to the year in review, this year, Spotify released a decade in review. This playlist, however, wasn’t personalized to each of its users.
The five top streamed artists of the decade were Drake, Ed Sheeran, Post Malone, Ariana Grande and Eminem. The most streamed song of the decade was Ed Sheeran’s “Shape of You.”
