Now that the syllabi have been put away at Grand Rapids Community College, students and staff are ready to get back at it. For students who are just getting into GRCC’s classes and everything else, there will be two fun and possibly productive events to ‘’warm you up.”
Raider Games will be at Ford Fieldhouse on Jan. 22 starting at 7 p.m.
“Freshmen can see what we have to offer as far as clubs,” said Ramon Guerrero, member of the Campus Activities Board.
There will be a litany of activities and 16 student organizations represented. There will be a bouncy obstacle course, face painting, caricatures, giveaways and free snacks.
The following day (Jan. 23), in the Quiet Cafe, there will be an open-mic night from 4 p.m. -6 p.m. There will be an open mic available to students seeking to share their music or written words. Sign up here. The first 50 students to show up at the open-mic night will get a voucher for a ‘free drink’ as well, according to Guerrero. At the time this story was published, only two students were signed up for the event. That means plenty of space! Also, toward the end of this event, a professional comedian, Lauren Faber, will be performing.
