Gilda’s LaughFest Returns for 10th Anniversary

LaughFest, the nation’s first ever community wide festival of laughter will be returning for its 10th anniversary this March. 

Gilda’s LaughFest will be occurring over the span of 10 days from March 5-15. 

This special anniversary will consist of comedy shows featuring the headliners, Jeff Foxworthy, Maria Bamford, Adam Cayton-Holland, Ralph Harris, Russell Peters, Justin Willman, Jim Gaffigan and YouTubers JP Sears, and Miranda Sings, as well as many other entertainers. 

There are many free events including stand up showcases, laughter yoga sessions and musical performances. 

Many shows are geared toward adult audiences but there are family friendly ones as well.You can find further information on the website about this. 

Gilda’s Club has helped provide free emotional support and care since 2001 to those on any kind of cancer journey or those grieving the loss of someone in their life. Joanne Roehm,festival director stated, “the festival is not just fun and funny, but for a good cause – Gilda’s Club Grand Rapids. Gilda’s Club provides free support to people of all ages in our community living with cancer and grief.” Gilda’s Club of greater Grand Rapids is a non-profit organization supported completely through charitable gifts.

The refreshing shows will bring light and laughter to thousands, as does Gilda’s Club in their clubhouses located in Lowell and Grand Rapids.

This year will be unique from previous years explained Joanne Roehm, festival director.

“Every year is unique with a diverse and fresh lineup of acts,” Roehm said. “This year we have some All-Star shows both weekends (Clean Comedy All-Stars and Best of the Midwest All-Stars), plus some special events on the opening and closing days of the festival honoring our 10th year. We also launched our Laughter Rx Symposium this year, centered around health and humor programming with CE (continued education) opportunities for nurses and social workers.”

The prices of tickets range from free to $250. Ticket sales are starting on Monday, Feb. 17 at 10 a.m. The best place to buy tickets will be at LaughFest Central, 120 Ionia Ave. SW, Suite 102, in Grand Rapids. Many shows sell out before the festival starts so it is best to start buying them as soon as possible. A few hot selling shows are Russell Peters, Justin Willman and Fortune Feimster.
