Hello, everyone. I hope you’re all having a great week! We recently had some new additions to The Collegiate editing staff that we’ll be introducing to you all. This week we’ll be starting off with our new Feature Editor, Breegan Petruska! Breegan’s a huge fan of the “Hunger Games” movies and “Grey’s Anatomy” and “Glee” are her go-to TV shows. She’s been studying pre-journalism here at GRCC for two years and plans to transfer to GVSU to pursue multimedia journalism. Her favorite topic to write about is “anything but sports.” When she’s not busy she loves to listen to music, hang out with friends, and play with her cat named Pete.
What are you the most excited to cover as a Collegiate editor? Why?
I am excited to cover some fun, uplifting stories. There is so much going on right now in the world, so I am hoping to cover some stories that will brighten someone’s day.
What do you miss the most from pre-covid life? Why?
I miss the movie theater. I miss being able to go out without a mask and being able to interact with others without feeling uncomfortable.
What made you want to join The Collegiate?
I’m planning on studying journalism as my major, so joining the Collegiate is a great first step to see if this is what I potentially want to do for the rest of my life.
What are your goals after leaving GRCC?
As of right now, the plan is to attend Grand Valley State University for multimedia journalism. I would love to get a job in broadcasting or photography.
There’s a lot of upsetting stuff happening right now, what is something that has made you smile recently?
My best friend and I love going on nighttime drives with the windows down. We both have been super busy recently, but we have been going on rides together more through the city, and they always make me smile.
Have suggestions about who I should feature next? Drop me a tip at firstname.lastname@example.org. I’d love to hear from you!
