The Grand Rapids Community College Police Department is partnering with the Grand Rapids Police Department to host a virtual conversation about repairing the divide between marginalized communities and the police at noon on May 25.
The conversation, titled “Community Policing: Bridging the GAP,” will focus on connecting local law enforcement agencies and underserved communities for a discussion surrounding the areas where community policing can be improved, and planning a course of action to reverse current trends in policing practices.
Grand Rapids Police Chief Eric Payne, GRCC Police Chief Rebecca Whitman and GRCC’s Police and Corrections academy director Jermaine Reese will lead the discussion.
