Grand Rapids Community College’s Student Alliance Organization held its first Town Hall meeting of the winter semester to discuss student needs and community engagement on Thursday, Jan. 20.

The Student Alliance organization is made up of current GRCC students whose main objectives are to focus on student needs, increase community engagement, and “help maintain the student life budget,” said Brendan Burke, President of Student Alliance.

“We are really working towards student and community engagement and continue to advocate for the student voice,” said Becca Klap, Director of Communications for Student Alliance.

Among the topics discussed at this meeting, Student Alliance announced the launch of its newsletter which was sent out for the first time in early January. The primary focuses of the newsletter are to announce events happening on campus and highlighting resources for GRCC students. Students should expect to see the next issue of Student Alliance’s newsletter near the beginning of February.

Town Hall meetings were previously held twice a month, but after being put to a vote, Student Alliance unanimously voted to change the schedule for these meetings to be held once a month.
