The 2022 Grand Rapids Community College Class of 2022 will include more than 450 students participating in separate commencement ceremonies to be held in the Gerald R. Ford Fieldhouse Friday, April 29.

The graduation for the School of Arts and Sciences will be held first at 4:30 p.m. Doors will open at 3:30 p.m. for this ceremony.

The graduation for the School of Workforce Development will be held at 7:30 p.m. Doors will open at 6:30 p.m. for this ceremony.

With 458 students in total graduating, each ceremony is expected to last about one hour. The faculty emeritus and distinguished alumnus will speak at the first ceremony and have a video played at the second.

Attending the ceremony is optional, but encouraged as it gives graduates a chance to celebrate their time and successes at GRCC. Those attending commencement will be walking across the stage after having completed degree or certificate requirements during the 2020 fall or 2022 winter semesters in front of friends, family and faculty. The event will be livestreamed as well.

For anyone unable to attend in person, there are options to view commencement live online at the following links:

School of Arts & Science at 4 p.m.

School of Workforce at 7 p.m.

“Commencement is a celebration of what a student has accomplished, and also of what is to come. We are thrilled to be able to share this experience again in person with the family and supporters who have helped students through their time at GRCC,” said Dave Murray, GRCC’s Director of Communications.

Tickets are required for those planning to attend. If you indicated that you wanted additional tickets that are granted through the ticket lottery, Student Life staff will contact you through your GRCC student email this week. If your health requires special seating, “We will make every effort to assist those with mobility challenges,”  Murray said.
