Grand Rapids Community College’s music programs are in full swing this week, with both the voice department as well as the woodwind and brass orchestra offering free admission to their upcoming concerts.
The voice department will be performing on Tuesday, Nov. 15, at the Albert P. Smith Music Center. The performance will begin at 7 p.m. in room 200. The concert will feature select students for solo pieces as well as a full choir.
GRCC’s Assistant Professor of Music and Director of Choral and Vocal Activities, Caleb Wenzel, shared of the upcoming vocal performance, “This recital is a way for voice students to share their creative work with the whole community.”
Wenzel continued, “Some students are music majors studying opera or jazz, while some are students who just love music and love singing. The concert will also feature GRCC Madrigal Singers, a small vocal ensemble of our top voice majors. Madrigals will perform a series of love songs from different periods of classical music.”
The woodwind and brass chamber orchestra is set to perform at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 17, taking place in room 200 of the Linn Maxwell Keller Recital Hall. The concert will feature woodwind and brass instruments performing fall arrangements.
Tickets for these upcoming concerts will be completely free to the public, offering nights of culture and classic entertainment to the Grand Rapids community.
