Grand Rapids Community College plans to acknowledge and celebrate veterans at a Veterans Day Ceremony scheduled for 10 a.m. – noon on Nov. 11 at Dr. Juan R. Olivarez Student Plaza.
“You can expect to see an opportunity to celebrate veterans who have gone before us or are here now,” said Patrick Coleman, Veteran Success Coordinator.
All members of the community are welcome to attend this event and celebrate. There will be a veteran guest speaker who will be revealed at the event. There will also be the placement of the wreath and flag ceremonies for the commemoration of our community’s veterans.
After these ceremonies, the event will transition to a question-and-answer panel with the guest speaker to discuss issues student veterans face such as the difficult transition from a military environment back to the GRCC campus.
Coleman encourages the campus community to attend the event and show their support for our veterans.
“We have students, staff, faculty, trustees, that are veterans, so hopefully they come out and just take part in a great celebration…” he said.
