On Feb. 14 at 10:29 a.m., Grand Rapids Community College President Charles Lepper released a statement addressing the shooting at Michigan State University late Monday night.
“Our thoughts today are with our friends and partners at Michigan State University as we try to make sense of the unimaginable,” wrote Lepper in an email to the GRCC community. “This is heartbreaking. Our deepest condolences to the families of the victims, and to the MSU community as a whole. We must continue to look out for one another and care for each other on our campuses and in our communities.
Starting on Feb.14, the GRCC Counseling and Career Development is offering drop-in counseling for any students who are struggling with the aftermath of the shooting.
Drop-in hours will be on Tuesday, Feb. 14 from 2-3 p.m in the student life center on the first floor of the Student Center building, and Wednesday, Feb. 15 from 11-12:15 p.m. and 3-4 p.m. in room 368 of the Student Center building.
Counseling and Career Development Director Melissa Ware declined comment, but did encourage students who need support to drop-in or make an appointment for counseling resources at GRCC.
