On March 21, Grand Rapids Community College is hosting a student safety and security forum. This event will take place at the GRCC Raider Grill from 1-3 p.m.
Lisa Freiburger, GRCC’s Vice President for Finance and Administration said the event is taking place to educate students on what measures are in place to protect their safety.
“It is an open forum for students to come to hear information about the safety and security that we have in place here on this campus,” said Freiburger. “And then equally (as) important, to give students an opportunity to ask questions about what they might want to learn a little more about, what concerns they might have. Just really giving students a forum to raise those questions and concerns with the right people in the room to address them.”
Regarding the event, GRCC Communications Director, Dave Murray said, “the (police) chief and President Lepper hosted a similar session within the week of the tragedy at MSU and this is a chance to give students that same opportunity to ask questions and I think they’ll be assured when they hear of all the things that are available to them.”
Lina Blair, the Director of Student Life and Conduct and Rebecca Whitman, GRCC Police Chief will both be attending the forum to answer questions and provide information to students.
