Last week’s Salute to Women event honored current student Melissa Gheorghiu, alumnus Senita Lenear, current employee Maria McKee and former employee Penni Weninger. The awards lunch is hosted by Grand Rapids Community College’s Office of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion and takes place during Women’s History Month.
The guests included GRCC students, employees, retirees, and the award recipients’ families. ODEI Assistant Director Jamillya Hardley provided the opening and closing remarks, the mentors and employees who nominated the four women each spoke, and after the recipient acceptance speeches, the event concluded with GRCC student Elijah Roesner’s cover of “Rise Up.”
