Grand Rapids Community College women’s soccer team was drafted in a away match against Jackson College that ended in a 0-3 on Wednesday, Sept. 25. Making their season record to 3-5-1.

The women’s team came short against the Jets, making this their third time facing off in Raiders history. During the time of this match the Jets made 21 on target shots which is 13 more than the raiders. And also taking the win of most saves and corner kicks given. The Jets scored three times with the first two goals being in the first 15 minutes of the match. And the other being just before half time. Which would end up being the finished score they walked away with.

“It was a game of two halves,” stated GRCC women’s coach Jason Hill in an email to The Collegiate. “We opened the match and got out worked, and Jackson took an advantage and went up three because of that. Second half we out worked them but were unable to get the ball into the net, Jackson played well defensively. Our takeaway is that every minute counts in a match. We started poorly and were underwhelming, but the second half hustle and our work was a great indicator of what we are capable of.”

The Raiders’ next game will be against Kellogg Community College at 4 p.m. next Wednesday, Oct. 2 in Battle Creek.
