Versus Delta College away match

Versus Schoolcraft last home match
The women’s team fought in this match, scoring four goals but still falling short. With the Raiders first goal being by sophomore forward Ava Simonson who scored her eighth goal of the season and was assisted by sophomore midfielder Samantha Hunting at the 33rd minute. Hunting went on to score two goals for the Raiders with the first one being from a corner kick at the 41st minute mark. The next goal was another link up between Hunting and Simonson, which put the score at 3-8 in the 69th minute. The last goal scored for the Raiders that evening was a solo goal by freshman forward Emily Krampitz just minutes before extra time was given. Even though they didn’t leave with the win they still left with most goals saved coming in at eight which was five more than the Ocelots.
This game put all three players, Simonson, Hunting and Krampitz at the top of their lineup for most goals and assists with a combined total of 16 goals and 13 assists for the season.
GRCC women’s head coach Jason Hill reflected on how the Raider’s second season will be the last for some of the players.
“I will say this about both of those games, it’s been a long season for everyone and we were just playing for our teammates and our school,” Hill said. “We have a lot of sophomores so getting them all playing time and for some, this is the end of their soccer career. We spent time reflecting and being positive with each other because this is a shift in our program going forward.” Hill said. “Most of these sophomores have been here since the program started, so we all started together. Going into next season and them not being there will be tough. They are great young people with a bright future and they will be missed by our team.”
