On Thursday, Oct. 24 Johnny Rodriguez, President and CEO of Latin Americans United for Progress (LAUP), Michigan’s oldest Latino organization, will be sharing his journey of leadership and advocacy from his personal and professional perspective with Grand Rapids Community College students.
This event will be from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. located at the Applied Technology Center Auditorium in room 168. This event is a part of the Diversity Lecture Series hosted by the Woodrick Center for Inclusion and Multicultural Affairs.
Jamillya Hardley, the director of the Woodrick Center for Inclusion and Multicultural Affairs,
stated that at this event, “(The community) will have the opportunity to have a shared space to learn more about the remarkable work Johnny Rodriguez has done and is continuing to do for our Hispanic/Latino community.”
This gathering will include diverse points of view and exciting conversations. Everyone in the community including students, staff and faculty members are welcome to this event.
Attending this event is a way to increase cultural awareness and find more ways to advocate for GRCC’s Hispanic and Latino community.
“As we continue to honor Hispanic Heritage, these events offer great dialogue, resources, and ways to stay informed about our diverse surrounding communities,” Hardley stated.
She added that these events are great ways to stay more involved in the area around Grand Rapids and beyond, both a reminder and chance to celebrate the community.
