This Friday, April 18, the Grand Rapids Community College Campus Activities Board is hosting a cap decorating event for the graduating class of 2025. This event is from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. and is free.
The event will be located at the main campus student life hub. The Woodrick Center for Multicultural Arts is also providing free food.
Students should bring their graduation caps, and supplies for decorating will be provided at the event. Jena Shearer, CAB Secretary, stated in an email to The Collegiate that, “We will have all kinds of supplies available. Glue, paint, markers, stickers, paper flowers, glitter, ribbon, and more!”
Students are encouraged to bring their own photos that they want on their grad cap. Shearer stated, “A lot of CAB members have creative ideas themselves and would be happy to help students get an idea of what they want to create!”
This event is an opportunity for students to express their individuality.
“This event is designed to celebrate each student’s unique journey and achievements, providing them with a chance to personalize their caps in a way that reflects their personality, aspirations, or memories from their time at GRCC,” Shearer stated.
Graduation caps can display students’ own creativity, future plans, honoring loved ones or even one’s own taste.
CAB created this event to provide students a fun and memorable way to celebrate their graduation and reflect on their journey, achievements, and look forward to their future endeavors. “This event fosters a sense of community and connection, bringing peers together to share their stories and collaborate in a relaxed and supported environment,” stated Shearer.
This event is a celebration of community, creativity and individuality.
