Grand Rapids Community College staff and students, it is time to share the lineup of events for this year’s GRCC Homecoming Week.

Starting on Monday, Sept. 29, there will be a campus dining giveaway from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30  p.m. at the Juan Oliveras Student Plaza, and there will also be a lunch giveaway from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Lakeshore Atrium. Studying stirs up an appetite, so don’t miss out on these giveaways. While attending these events, don’t forget to wear tie-dye apparel for the theme.

Lions, tigers, and any of your favorite sports teams, Tuesday’s theme is jersey day. Also on Tuesday, Sept. 30, focus on your health by visiting the health fair going on from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. in Secchia Institute of Culinary Education, rooms 125 and 127.

Assistant Director of Campus Activities and Conduct Andrew Sweeder highlights the importance of students’ well-being throughout the semester. “We are looking for the student’s health and well-being coming into this year, especially as we are getting through the first five weeks of class.” Take some time to stop by the community health resource table found at the Lakeshore Atrium from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. because your health, whether mental or physical, is important.

Gear up and cheer it up for Wednesday, Oct. 1, because this day is dedicated to the games. Wednesday’s theme is spirit day. Wear your GRCC gear to watch GRCC men’s and women’s soccer teams as they face Lake Michigan College at Midwest United FC Soccer Complex starting at 2 p.m. Happening from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m., there will be a tailgate along with bouquet making at the Gerald R. Ford Fieldhouse, Gordon Hunsberger Arena. Snag some treats from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and then from 4:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Lakeshore Atrium as they will be serving some Crumbl cookies.

Serving up the final game of the night is GRCC’s women’s volleyball team, held at 6 p.m. at the Gerald R. Ford Fieldhouse, in the Gordon Hunsberger Arena. They will be facing North Central Michigan College. Can’t make it to the game? No problem, enjoy the volleyball watch party from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. in Lakeshore Room #102.

President of Campus Activities Board, Lacey Hendrie, said she is looking forward to next week’s homecoming events.

“It’s just a fun way to have everyone show their school spirit and just come together to build more of a sense of community,” Hendrie said.

Characters and crafts, on Oct. 2, dress up as your favorite book, movie, or TV show character and participate in crafts at the Lakeshore Atrium. Another event taking place is the GRCC office decorating contest, which is open to all GRCC staff and offices. Register by Sept. 26 because decorating starts Sept. 29 and must be done by Oct. 1. On Oct. 2, judges and winners will be announced.

To wrap up the GRCC 2025 Homecoming week is the fairy garden-themed dance from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. at the Secchia Piazza. There will be drinks and food provided. Students are welcome to bring one guest, but don’t forget to RSVP on Raider Connect.

If you are interested in helping with any of these upcoming events you can fill out a form on Raider Connect or email cab@grcc.edu.

“We are always looking for volunteers for events,” Hendrie said.

All of these events are free for students, brought to you by the Campus Activities Board. Now you can make a game plan for homecoming week.
