Grand Rapids Community College Campus Activities Board hosted a Bingo Night event yesterday evening, bringing students together for the first time in the new semester.
The evening included free food, music, connecting with others, and a chance to win prizes. This event is the first of many events CAB has planned for students throughout the winter semester. Students gathered together with their colorful bingo chips, high energy, laughter, and anticipation of possibly walking away with one of the many prizes including free GRCC t-shirts, and a weighted snoopy pillow.

CAB president Lacey Hendrie reflected on the sense of community and positive energy that permeated the room.
“I think we got a fair turnout and people seem to have a lot of fun,” Hendrie said.
Hendrie went on to detail the goals that CAB has this year in creating spaces of community and belonging for GRCC students, encouraging them to step outside their comfort zone and make connections and memories with their peers.
“The two main goals we’ve been talking about is collaborating with other student clubs more and trying to create more of a community on campus,” Hendrie said. “Students should just come to events, have fun, meet people, and give themselves a chance to get involved.”
The night ended with smiles, laughter, and joy. An experience that attendees hope will encourage more participation in future events.

“I love bingo, and I love playing it in my free time, so the fact that we got to play in this cute little community was very fun,” said Freshman Dani Burchard, 19, of Byron Center. “It’s really great going to events, I meet new people at these events all the time. I always leave with new people to talk to. It’s really nice.”
