“The Legend of Vox Machina,” based on the very first Critical Role campaign, has made us laugh, cry, and overall watch with rapt attention. And now it has done it again, as season four of “The Legend of Vox Machina” is upon us. But the question is, did it live up to expectations as usual?

“The Legend of Vox Machina” season four, which premiered on Amazon Prime back on June 3 continues the adventures of the titular group. Taking place a year after the end of the last season, our heroes have crushed the villainous draconic Chroma Conclave, Vox Machina have gone their separate ways, and onto their own adventures. However, a new threat looms, and in order to save the world, our heroes will have to band together once again and fight like only they can.

The series stars the returning Laura Bailey known for roles in “The Mighty Nein” and The Elder Scrolls V: Skryrim-Dawnguard as Vex’ahlia Vessar, a half-elf ranger and founding member of the group. Taliesin Jaffe, known for roles in “The Mighty Nein” and “Injustice 2,” returns as the voice of Percival Fredrickstein von Musel Klossowski de Rolo III, a human nobleman and gunslinger who invented firearms with the help of a demon, de Rolo serves as the lover of Vex and the strategic mind and planner of the group. Ashley Johnson, known for providing voices in the likes of the “Ben 10” franchise and “Teen Titans,” returns as the voice of Pike Trickfoot, a gnome cleric and the group’s resident healer. Liam O’Brien known for roles in the likes of “Wolverine and the X-Men” and “The Mighty Nein” returns as the voice of Vax’ildan Vessar, a half-elf rogue and the twin brother of Vex. Marisha Ray, known for roles in the likes of Dispatch and “The Mighty Nein” returns to star as Keyleth of the Air Ashari, a half-elf druid and the lover of Vax. Travis Willingham known for roles in “The Mighty Nein” and “Full Metal Alchemist: Brotherhood” returns as the voice of Grog Strongjaw, the dim-witted but lovable goliath barbarian and the best friend and surrogate brother of Trickfoot. Joining Vox Mahina this season is Wayne Brady, known for roles in the likes of “So You Think You Can Dance” and “The Late Late Show” replacing Sam Riegel from the “Critical Role” campaign as Taryon Darrington, a human artificer and wannabe adventurer who joins Vox Machina to the group’s chagrin.

This season was….Phenomenal, just like the previous seasons. Everything from the humor to the action to the emotional beats was expertly done. Darrington was a welcome surprise as I didn’t think I’d like him at first, but he turned out to make me laugh more than any other character. The voice acting is stupendous as usual, especially from Johnson and Ray. All in all an extraordinary season, 10 out of 10 torches easy. You need to watch this show!
