Where to celebrate the Fourth of July in West Michigan

Communities across the area are celebrating the Fourth of July with parades, food trucks, family activities, and firework displays. Read on for a brief overview of where to celebrate this Independence Day. 

Kentwood 

July 4: 

9:30 a.m.: Parade, starting at 4755 Walma at the new Community Center and ending at Challenger Elementary School. For more information, check out the route map

10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.: A carnival with rides and activities for kids is happening at Kentwood City Hall. Carnival wristbands should be purchased in advance for $20 at the Kentwood Activities Center on July 1 and July 2. 

5 to 10 p.m.: Community booths, Beer Tent, food trucks, and live music will be at Kentwood City Hall for an evening celebration. Cash will not be accepted at the Beer Tent. 

Dusk: Fireworks show at the Kentwood City Hall. 

Holland

July 4: 

Noon to 10 p.m.: Fair food will be available at Kollen Park.
Dusk: Fireworks over Lake Macatawa at Kollen Park.

East Grand Rapids

July 4:

Noon to 1 p.m.: Parade, beginning at the intersection of Sherman Street and Wealthy Street and ending at Reeds Lake Boulevard. For more information, check out the route map

1 to 3:30 p.m.: Free Kids Activities at John Collins Park.

Dusk: Fireworks show over Reeds Lake at John Collins Park or the East Grand Rapids Middle School field. 

Grand Rapids

July 4: 

6 to 11 p.m.: Downtown Grand Rapids, 51 Market Ave. Grand Rapids is holding a free community celebration with music. 

10:30 p.m.: Fireworks launching from Fulton St. Bridge.

Grand Haven

July 4: 

10 to 11 p.m.: Fireworks can be watched paired with the Grand Haven Musical Fountain at the Lynne Sherwood Waterfront Stadium
