There are a total of 16 events happening on the Grand Rapids Community College campus the week of Feb. 9 – 14. And with Valentine’s Day fast approaching, there are some holiday-themed events on the horizon. Most notably, a multi-organization event is happening on Wednesday. Read on to find out where to find free food and fun events on campus this week: 

Monday, Feb. 9:

10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Bio-medical Club is hosting a “GRCC Community Blood Drive” at the Applied Technology Center, room 124. Walk-ins are welcome as the schedule allows, but making an appointment is strongly encouraged. To schedule an appointment, call 866-642-5663 or visit versiti.org/mi. Don’t forget to eat a healthy meal and drink lots of water before donating!  

Tuesday, Feb. 10:

11 a.m. to 2 p.m. The Center for Career and Professional Readiness is having a “Trilogy Health Hiring Event,” where students can stop by Raleigh J. Finkelstein floor G2 and learn about job opportunities at Trilogy Health Services. There will be free stuff for students. 

12 to 1 p.m. Phi Theta Kappa is holding a virtual membership meeting. Join Phi Theta Kappa members to learn more about scholarships and service opportunities. The link to the meeting can be found on RaiderConnect

Wednesday, Feb. 11:

11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Financial Aid is hosting “Financial Aid Frenzy – Main Campus,” where students can get hands-on support from the Financial Aid department in completing their FAFSA for the 2026-2027 school year. Work alone or in a group on each step of the FAFSA, and learn about scholarships and payment options. The event will be held in RJF 210. There will be free stuff for students. 

12 to 1 p.m. The Center for Career and Professional Readiness is hosting a “Credit Repair and Boosting” workshop as part of their Financial Literacy Event series in partnership with Arbor Financial Credit Union. The workshop will be held in RJF 207. The event can also be attended online, with the code to join via Zoom on the event’s poster found on RaiderConnect. Free food will be provided to those in attendance. 

1 to 2:15 p.m. The Psychology Department is hosting “The Real World of Forensic Psychology” as part of their Psychology Lecture Series. The speaker is Dr. Jeff Kieliszewski, a practicing forensic psychologist, author, former college professor, popular YouTuber, and frequent expert on television programs and podcasts. This lecture is free to attend and open to the community. Contact Dr. Kate Christian at katechristian@grcc.edu with any questions. 

1 to 4 p.m. Campus Activities Board, in collaboration with the Black Africana Student Union, is hosting a “Bouquet and Card Making” event in the Center for Student Life and Leadership office on the first floor of the Student Center. At the same time, Student Government will be promoting sexual health awareness, giving away free condoms and candy. BASU will also be there with Valentine’s goodies. From 2 to 4 p.m., the Center for Counseling and Well-Being will be in the same place, giving out swag and sharing mental health resources. To sum up this big event, there will be free stuff and activities for students.

3 to 4 p.m. FutureTech Careers is hosting “Workplace Fundamentals 101: A Career Conversation with David Pridmore” as a part of their Career Conversations series. David Pridmore is the FutureTech Careers’ Program Manager, who will be discussing FutureTech’s interactive Career Success Program that can help build foundational skills to help students succeed at work. Students can attend the discussion both in person and online in the Applied Technology Center, room 231 or on Zoom. The Zoom link can be found on RaiderConnect. FutureTech students who RSVP ahead of time will get a free $25 gift card for attending. Bring a laptop to this event. 

4 to 7 p.m. Stand Out is hosting “Valentine’s Gay” in RJF room 108. Valentine’s Gay is a celebration of love in all forms, with non-alcoholic drinks, food, games, arts, crafts, and other Valentine’s-themed activities. 

6 to 7:20 p.m. Black Africana Student Union is holding modeling auditions in the Multi-Purpose Room on the second floor of the Student Center. They are looking for all types of people, no experience needed. They are looking for people who are punctual, quick learners, and reliable. Models will be compensated. Show day is April 10. 

Thursday, Feb. 12:

9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 2 to 6 p.m. GRCC’s campus Health Bar is offering free STI testing for GRCC students at the Applied Technology Center room 223. Walk-in appointments are available 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 4 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Make an appointment at this link. Visit the GRCC Health Clinic website for more information.  

11 a.m. to 1 p.m. The Center for Career and Professional Readiness is holding a Student Focus Group in ATC room 231. RSVP and show up to share what services you would find valuable over lunch. Free food provided to those who RSVP. 

11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. The Bob and Alecia Woodrick Center for Inclusion and Multicultural Affairs will be hosting the Vice President for People, Equity, and Culture at GVSU, Dr. Robert Shorty, who will be giving a lecturetitled, “Stay Focused: Radical Hope Even When It’s Hard” as part of their Diversity Lecture Series. The lecture will be held in Sneden Hall room 108. Brunch will be served at 11 a.m. and the lecture will begin at 11:30 a.m. There is a link available to those who wish to watch online: https://youtube.com/live/FEd46U5OyUk?feature=share. The video will be available for 30 days after the livestream. There will be free food at this event. 

12:30 to 1:30 p.m. The Center for Counseling and Well-Being is hosting “Say What? Handling Conflict Without Losing Your Cool,” as part of their Well-Being Workshop series, sharing information on building emotional intelligence in identifying triggers and responding to tough situations in the Raider Grill (room 205 of the Student Center). There will be free food and parking passes. 

Friday, Feb. 13:

10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Financial Aid is holding “FAFSA Fridays” in RJF room 210. Get support from Financial Aid in filling out the 2026-2027 FAFSA. 

3 to 5 p.m. Raider Nation Gaming is holding its weekly meeting in room 218 of Cook Hall. Show up to play games of all sorts– from video games to board games– and hang out with fellow gamers. 

There are no athletic events happening at GRCC’s campus this coming week.
