After a tough loss last week to Muskegon Community College, the Raiders were determined to get back to their winning ways on Wednesday against the Chargers of Ancilla Community College.
It didn’t take long for the Raiders to find their pace offensively, who made a season high 20 three pointers, in the Raiders 114-90 rout of the visiting Chargers.
Joby Renbarger, of Ancilla Community College, led all scorers with 38 points and 13 rebounds. Roy Jackson led the Raiders’ offensive scoring with 22 points.
In the first half GRCC started off hot and never looked back. Alex Lyle knocked down early threes and finished with 11 points.
In the second half Ancilla came out firing with 5 straight points, narrowing the Raiders’ lead. But T.J. McChutcheon seemed determined to keep the raiders on top.
The Raiders scored on their next five offensive possessions, which saw McChutcheon score five points and dish out three assists. McChutcheon finished the game with 13 points, five assists, and three steals.
The Chargers of Ancilla saw late success by feeding the ball to their big men underneath and by effective guard play from Marc Constable who ended the night with 20 points and four assists.
Grand Rapids had seven players finish in double figure scoring and were once again led underneath by Mika Gates who had 18 points and 8eightrebounds.
The Raiders improve their record to 17-3 with their last game on February 29 at Lansing Community College.
