Student Employment Services at Grand Rapids Community College will host a job fair from 9 a.m. to noon on Wednesday, Feb. 24 in the Student Center. The event will provide opportunities for employers and students to connect and exchange information about summer employment.

With spring approaching, many businesses are searching for additional employees for the summer. Most employers would like to have their summer hiring taken care of by mid-March. Over 850 positions will be available to attendees at this event.

The job fair is open to students, alumni and any community members seeking employment during the summer. Anyone who may be in need of work and is prepared to meet employers is welcome to attend.

Employers attending include summer camps, hotels, catering companies, landscaping companies and several additional companies and organizations. A full list of employers registered for the fair can be found on the Student Employment Services webpage.

Student Employment Services recommends attendees spend some time preparing for the event before making an appearance.

“Attending the job fair will offer a way for job-seekers to network with employers from the around the area who have fun summer opportunities,” said Student Employment Services Assistant Haley Spencer. “With so many businesses requiring online applications, it can be beneficial to make an in-person connection with recruiters in order to stand-out as a candidate for the open positions at these companies.”

Student Employment Services welcomes students to their office in room 103 in the Main Building to aid them in creating/updating a résumé or preparing for interviews. Students may also visit the Student Employment Services office or their webpage for additional information regarding the job fair as well as on and off-campus employment.
