A day after the water main break near the I-96 Ottawa ramp around 2 p.m. Feb. 9 and there have been reports of greenish colored water with some of Grand Rapids Community College restrooms.

There is not yet any information as to why the water main burst.

GRCC’s Executive Director of Facilities Tom Smith said there was a small sewer water leakage  due to the water main break into the school’s toilet water but it has been resolved this evening.

“The only problems we have had were the discolored water, but it is common when we have water main breaks,” said Assistant Director of Facilities Joe Milito.

The facilities staff allowed the water to run normally throughout the day giving the discolored water time to filter out. The water returned to normal by late this afternoon.
